Join us for a special conversation with Kun-woong Park, one of South Korea’s leading graphic novelists, as we celebrate the launch of his book commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Kapyong.


His latest work, The Story of the Battle of Kapyong, brings to life the poignant wartime memoir of Canadian veteran Lt. Col. Hub Gray, Beyond the Danger Close. Through powerful black-and-white visual storytelling, the graphic novel honours the courage and sacrifice of Canadian soldiers that laid the foundation for the prosperous and democratic country that South Korea is today.


The author will share insights into his artistic approach, the historical research behind adapting veteran memoirs into graphic narratives, and the enduring bond between Canada and Korea, inviting us to reflect on this shared history and its meaning for the future of Canada–Korea relations.
